Juju maestro and evangelist, Ebenezer Obey, has said that, at 73, he
<br />
still composes songs inside toilets.
<br />
Part of the revelations he made three years ago during his 70th
<br />
birthday celebration was that he found toilets to be conducive for his
<br />
muse.
<br />
In an interview with journalists in his Ikeja, Lagos home on Friday,
<br />
Obey said that although he could compose anywhere, toilets still
<br />
remain one of the most productive environments for him.
<br />
He said, "The reason is that I always have busy schedules. When I am
<br />
in the house, there will be a lot of things and people – especially
<br />
visitors – to attend to. So, people will naturally disturb me when I
<br />
want to compose songs. But the toilet is the only place where no one
<br />
can disturb me. At times when I am there, I stay longer because I
<br />
compose songs there."
<br />
Obey, however, stressed that God is the source of his inspiration and
<br />
that was why many of his songs are evergreen. He advised budding
<br />
artistes and youths generally to be hardworking and believe that
<br />
challenges and adversity are a stepping stone to success. According to
<br />
him, he was once a labourer, clerk, vendor and an ice cream seller.
<br />
He explained, "Anyone who wants to succeed in life should be prepared
<br />
to go through certain challenges. In my early days, I struggled a lot.
<br />
I was a labourer. I was a vendor and an ice cream seller. The bicycles
<br />
that ice cream sellers rode in those days were bigger than what obtain
<br />
now. Yet, I was riding mine up and down.
<br />
"That time, I always prayed to God and asked: Why have you not
<br />
answered me? We used to buy papers at Idi Oro, in the Mushin area of
<br />
Lagos. By 2am, we were already on queue. The papers we were selling
<br />
then wereDaily Times, West African Pilot, Daily Express, Nigerian
<br />
Tribune and Morning Express.It was not easy walking up and down the
<br />
streets selling papers. Vendors use horns now. Then, we had to shout
<br />
on top of our voices."
<br />
Obey, who is one of Nigerian musicians with the highest number of
<br />
evergreen albums, said he had discovered his musical talent at that
<br />
time but his mother did not want him to be a musician. It took his
<br />
determination and a chance encounter with two old musicians, who gave
<br />
him an opportunity to perform at functions, to get to the path of his
<br />
musical destiny.
<br />
On how he copes without his wife who died about four years ago, he
<br />
said, "My wife is with the Lord. God called her in 2011. I miss her.
<br />
There is no way you won't miss such a wonderful woman. But I know it
<br />
is God who called her. And one day, I too will go and be with Him.
<br />
Some people have asked if I am not going to remarry. But I say I have
<br />
not been led to do so. My children and grandchildren have filled many
<br />
gaps. All of them are around me. They are taking good care of me."</div>

Two Non-governmental Organisations, Ladies of Grace and Agape Sisters,

have threatened to protest nude on April 25 the woman governorship
<br />
candidate in the Taraba governorship race is intimidated.
<br />
Jean Onuh, Coordinator of Agape Sisters, issued the threat in Abuja on
<br />
Friday when she  briefed newsmen on the Taraba run-off election.
<br />
Onuh said Sen. Aisha Alhassan represented the interest of Nigerian
<br />
women in the Taraba governorship poll holding on April 25.
<br />
She alleged that Alhassan was being intimidated by her opponents and
<br />
officials of the Independent Electoral commission (INEC).
<br />
"We would have remained quiet and very neutral but for our
<br />
disadvantaged background and the clamour to sustain the goals set for
<br />
Nigerian women in the post Beijing Conference."
<br />
"We dare warn of adverse consequences should the establishment known
<br />
as the Taraba cabal insist on intimidating a female contestant in the
<br />
race."
<br />
"We will mobilise hundreds of thousands of Nigerian women to protest
<br />
nude on April 25, if any official behaves funny,'' Onuh said.
<br />
She called on all involved in the Taraba poll to remain neutral and
<br />
urged registered voters, especially women, to ignore all kinds of
<br />
intimidation to come out and vote for Alhassan.</div>

War Over Fish Pond In Benue Turns Bloody!

Around 60 people have perished over ownership of a fishing pond in
<br />
Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
<br />
This is due to a bloody communal crisis between Ologba and Egba
<br />
communities of Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
<br />
<br />
The crisis began over a fallout of a lingering dispute between the
<br />
fishing communities over a fishing pond.
<br />
The latest crisis between the sister communities comes a month after
<br />
the conflict in Egba community which claimed close to 100 lives when
<br />
suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded the community.According to
<br />
sources,"the truth is that there is no love lost between the two
<br />
communities whose preoccupation is mainly fishing.
<br />
"Unfortunately, the bitter rivalry between the communities and
<br />
bottled-up anger for one another has lingered for several years and
<br />
sometimes resulting in intermittent skirmishes; this latest conflict
<br />
could have claimed over 60 lives because more bodies are still being
<br />
recovered from the two communities.
<br />
"As I speak to you today, (Saturday) the Egba people attacked Ologba
<br />
during a funeral procession early this morning, after the Friday
<br />
attack, just when the people were trying to bury their dead. So many
<br />
people were killed in that attack and more bodies are still being
<br />
recovered from the scene so we expect the causality figure to
<br />
rise."Peoples Democratic Party's deputy governorship candidate at the
<br />
last elections,Sir John Ngbede who hails from the area, revealed that
<br />
communities have been having long standing issues.
<br />
Ngbede also confirmed the recent crisis and said that many people now
<br />
live as refugees at Obagaji, the Agatu Local Government Area
<br />
Headquarters.
<br />
When contacted, the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hyacinth
<br />
Dagala, explained that this was not the first clash and that the
<br />
communities have been fighting over the fish pond for some time now.
<br />
Dagala, however, pointed out that the latest crisis allegedly broke
<br />
out as a result of deep rooted suspicion by the Egba community on
<br />
allegations that the Ologba people had organised last month's deadly
<br />
Fulani invasion against them.
<br />
Th Police has however revealed that as of last count, the recorded 23
<br />
deaths due to crisis but they are yet to update the figures and the
<br />
report as at press time.</div>

Trouble started in the home of Mrs. Grace Adebiyi (not real name) in Akowonjo area of Lagos when she noticed a strange discharge from the private part of her eight-year-old daughter, as she slept on the night of Sunday April 12, 2015.
“I would not have been worried if not because that I had noticed she was walking awkwardly when we were going to church earlier in the day. But when I asked what was wrong with her, she said nothing,” the woman said.
But that night, as Comfort (not real name) slept, her mother decided to investigate what was wrong.
“It was then I noticed my daughter’s private part was chafed. I was worried, what could have happened to her?”Adebiyi said.
The worried mother roused her daughter and asked her what had been happening to her but the girl told her nothing happened.
Adebiyi said, “I told her to go back to sleep but my mind was not at rest. The following morning. I asked her again if anybody had been fingering her and if that was what caused the way she was chafed and could not walk properly. She told me nothing of such happened.

Mr Kingsley Ejirefe, community Chairman of Agbarha-Otor vigilante 
outfit, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, has been 
murdered by a suspected lunatic.<br /><br />The incident was said to have 
happened around 9pm at the residence of the wife where he had gone to 
visit. It was here that the suspect had pounced on him with a knife. <b>When the lunatic saw that the stabbing did not injure his victim, he grabbed a piece of wood and struck him on the head with it.</b><br /><br />He

Sunday, assaulted and stopped journalists present at the Ughelli

office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from

monitoring the collation of result of Saturday's Presidential and

National Assembly elections.

Lamenting his ordeal after spending close to one hour behind the
<br>
counter, Vanguard's Perez Brisibe, said that when he got to the INEC
<br>
collation centre at 6:15a.m., an officer attached to the Counter
<br>
Terrorism Unit, CTU barked at him, asking who he was, adding that
<br>
after showing the officer his INEC media accreditation card, the
<br>
officer said: "Is that why you are walking freely into the premises?
<br>
In short leave this place now."
<br>
According to Perez, while trying to explain to the officer the need to

allow him access the collation centre, two other officers accosted him

from behind saying, "Who gave you the guts to talk back to an officer?

A Youth leader of the All Progressives Congress was on Saturday clubbed to death and his body set ablaze by thugs in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.  The Youth leader, Igie Osayande, met his untimely death when thugs invaded Ward 9, Units 9, 10 and 11 in Obagienevbosa Community, off Sapele Road, in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.  According to the APC Agent in Ward Unit 11, Mr Sunny Osagiede, trouble started when the thugs stormed the area demanding to be accredited long after accreditation had closed and voting had commenced.  According to Osagiede, efforts by the leader of the thugs ( names withheld) to get accreditation were rebuffed by the Presiding Officer who told him that voting had already commenced. He was then prevailed upon by the policeman on duty at the unit to leave the area.”  Osagiede said the trouble escalated when the thugs returned to the ward after the calls with his boys and scattered the ballot boxes and tore the ballot papers into shreds.  “In an attempt to resist them, the APC youth leade, Igie Osagiede, was attacked by the thugs and clubbed to death. His body was also set ablaze. My Mercedes Benz 190 was damaged and the Youth leader’s Mercedes Benz ML 350 4Matic was set ablaze.”  He said the body of the deceased youth leader has been deposited at a morgue. </div>

Twenty-eight <a href="http://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/jail-breaks">inmates escaped</a> from a Brazilian jail after three women in fantasy police costumes "seduced" prison wardens, it was reported today.<br>
 Police
 found three wardens naked and handcuffed inside the Nova Mutum public 
jail, near Cuiaba, central Brazil, the morning after the mass break-out.<br>
 The
 women reportedly drugged the prison guards by giving them spiked whisky
 after convincing them to take part in an orgy, according to 
investigators.<br>
 Inmates then left the prison through the main doors, even taking with them guns and munitions they had taken from prison caches.<br>

 Police later found a bag of lingerie and dominatrix police uniforms believed to have been worn by the temptresses.<br>
 Last
 night photos of one the naked wardens, believed to have been leaked by 
amused police officers who found him, had been shared thousands of times

reportedly the girlfriend of one of the prisoners who escaped - arrived 
at the prison at 3am on Thursday morning and asked to be let inside to 
"chat and drink", police said.<br>

RIVERS State Governor, Mr. Rotimi 
Amaechi, refused to be accredited over the refusal of officials of the 
Independent National Electoral Commission to produce the result sheet 
for his polling unit at Omuanwa Ward in the Ikwerre Local Government 
Area.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The governor, who turned up around 
10.00am at his polling unit, was told that there were no election result
 sheets and that the card readers deployed in the area failed to work.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Amaechi, who is the Director-General of 
the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, 
accused the Peoples Democratic Party of plotting to rig the presidential
 elections in the state. It is unlikely if Amaechi performed his civic 
right. His convoy was seen returning back to the State House in Port 
Harcourt almost immediately.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He later addressed a crowd of voters and
 declared that there would be no accreditation or voting in the area 
since the result sheets were not available.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The governor disclosed that he had 
called the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Gecila Khan, who 
told him that the result sheets had been dispatched to the necessary 
points.</div>

The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, had announced that 
there would be no restriction of movement today(Sunday) over the 
rescheduled elections.<br>

Our correspondent learnt that most of those caught in the traffic are
 Christians, attempting to go to church to observe the Palm Sunday.<br>

It was learnt that following the hiccups experienced in the voting on
 Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission postponed 
elections in five local government areas in Lagos till today.<br>

These are Alimosho, Oshodi/Isolo, Eti Osa, Kosofe and Somolu LGAs.<br>

There was a huge voter turnout   in the 
presidential and National Assembly elections in Bauchi, Nasarawa, Kano, 
Yobe, Jigawa, Sokoto and Borno states on Saturday, despite the 
accreditation problems which marked the exercise.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Meanwhile, women (some in purdah) turned
 out en masse to exercise their rights in the Federal Capital Territory,
 Sokoto, Taraba, Kebbi, Gombe and Kaduna states.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Reports say registered voters arrived at various polling units in some of the states as early as 6am ahead of   accreditation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although the voters were not happy 
that   malfunctioning card readers slowed down   the accreditation 
process,   they exercised patience in their quest to cast their votes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In Niger, one of our correspondents 
reported that voters turned out en mass at polling stations in Minna, 
Suleja, Lapai, Mokwa and Kontagora.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Electoral officers were at their duty 
posts very early but accreditation was hampered by malfunctioning card
