Lamenting his ordeal after spending close to one hour behind the
<br>
counter, Vanguard's Perez Brisibe, said that when he got to the INEC
<br>
collation centre at 6:15a.m., an officer attached to the Counter
<br>
Terrorism Unit, CTU barked at him, asking who he was, adding that
<br>
after showing the officer his INEC media accreditation card, the
<br>
officer said: "Is that why you are walking freely into the premises?
<br>
In short leave this place now."
<br>
According to Perez, while trying to explain to the officer the need to
<br>
allow him access the collation centre, two other officers accosted him
<br>
from behind saying, "Who gave you the guts to talk back to an officer?
<br>
Obey the order and get out of this premises."
<br>
This he said was followed by slaps and punches from other officers
<br>
including a female CTU officer, who freely used a horse wipe on him.
<br>
He said: "In obeying their order, I was walking out and trying to
<br>
inform my colleagues of what had transpired when two of them pounced
<br>
on me again saying, 'You are making calls abi? In short, we are
<br>
locking you up'.

"At that point, they dragged me across the main road like a common

APC Youth leader killed in Edo

A Youth leader of the All Progressives Congress was on Saturday clubbed to death and his body set ablaze by thugs in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.  The Youth leader, Igie Osayande, met his untimely death when thugs invaded Ward 9, Units 9, 10 and 11 in Obagienevbosa Community, off Sapele Road, in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.  According to the APC Agent in Ward Unit 11, Mr Sunny Osagiede, trouble started when the thugs stormed the area demanding to be accredited long after accreditation had closed and voting had commenced.  According to Osagiede, efforts by the leader of the thugs ( names withheld) to get accreditation were rebuffed by the Presiding Officer who told him that voting had already commenced. He was then prevailed upon by the policeman on duty at the unit to leave the area.”  Osagiede said the trouble escalated when the thugs returned to the ward after the calls with his boys and scattered the ballot boxes and tore the ballot papers into shreds.  “In an attempt to resist them, the APC youth leade, Igie Osagiede, was attacked by the thugs and clubbed to death. His body was also set ablaze. My Mercedes Benz 190 was damaged and the Youth leader’s Mercedes Benz ML 350 4Matic was set ablaze.”  He said the body of the deceased youth leader has been deposited at a morgue. </div>

Twenty-eight <a href="http://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/jail-breaks">inmates escaped</a> from a Brazilian jail after three women in fantasy police costumes "seduced" prison wardens, it was reported today.<br>
 Police
 found three wardens naked and handcuffed inside the Nova Mutum public 
jail, near Cuiaba, central Brazil, the morning after the mass break-out.<br>
 The
 women reportedly drugged the prison guards by giving them spiked whisky
 after convincing them to take part in an orgy, according to 
investigators.<br>
 Inmates then left the prison through the main doors, even taking with them guns and munitions they had taken from prison caches.<br>

 Police later found a bag of lingerie and dominatrix police uniforms believed to have been worn by the temptresses.<br>
 Last
 night photos of one the naked wardens, believed to have been leaked by 
amused police officers who found him, had been shared thousands of times

 The three women - one of them 
reportedly the girlfriend of one of the prisoners who escaped - arrived 
at the prison at 3am on Thursday morning and asked to be let inside to 
"chat and drink", police said.<br>

RIVERS State Governor, Mr. Rotimi 
Amaechi, refused to be accredited over the refusal of officials of the 
Independent National Electoral Commission to produce the result sheet 
for his polling unit at Omuanwa Ward in the Ikwerre Local Government 
Area.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The governor, who turned up around 
10.00am at his polling unit, was told that there were no election result
 sheets and that the card readers deployed in the area failed to work.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Amaechi, who is the Director-General of 
the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, 
accused the Peoples Democratic Party of plotting to rig the presidential
 elections in the state. It is unlikely if Amaechi performed his civic 
right. His convoy was seen returning back to the State House in Port 
Harcourt almost immediately.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He later addressed a crowd of voters and
 declared that there would be no accreditation or voting in the area 
since the result sheets were not available.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The governor disclosed that he had 
called the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Gecila Khan, who 
told him that the result sheets had been dispatched to the necessary 
points.</div>

The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, had announced that 
there would be no restriction of movement today(Sunday) over the 
rescheduled elections.<br>

Our correspondent learnt that most of those caught in the traffic are
 Christians, attempting to go to church to observe the Palm Sunday.<br>

It was learnt that following the hiccups experienced in the voting on
 Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission postponed 
elections in five local government areas in Lagos till today.<br>

These are Alimosho, Oshodi/Isolo, Eti Osa, Kosofe and Somolu LGAs.<br>

Large turnout of voters in Niger, Borno, Nasarawa, Sokoto

There was a huge voter turnout   in the 
presidential and National Assembly elections in Bauchi, Nasarawa, Kano, 
Yobe, Jigawa, Sokoto and Borno states on Saturday, despite the 
accreditation problems which marked the exercise.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Meanwhile, women (some in purdah) turned
 out en masse to exercise their rights in the Federal Capital Territory,
 Sokoto, Taraba, Kebbi, Gombe and Kaduna states.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Reports say registered voters arrived at various polling units in some of the states as early as 6am ahead of   accreditation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although the voters were not happy 
that   malfunctioning card readers slowed down   the accreditation 
process,   they exercised patience in their quest to cast their votes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In Niger, one of our correspondents 
reported that voters turned out en mass at polling stations in Minna, 
Suleja, Lapai, Mokwa and Kontagora.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Electoral officers were at their duty 
posts very early but accreditation was hampered by malfunctioning card 
readers in some units in Minna, Suleja, New Wuse and Bida.</div>
